the collection
These kids shared what makes them happy, sad and afraid. Because of them, every item sold will create a positive change.
Each piece in the Obakki Foundation collection showcases a different series of words and phrases written by the kids. When they tell us what makes them happy, what scares them and what they are afraid of — the differences disappear and we feel connected to these children.
The children’s phrases hold layers of meaning and spark conversation. Consider the seemingly innocent “A mosquito makes me sad”. On the surface, not liking mosquitoes is something we can all relate to. Dig a little deeper and we realize that for children in Africa — mosquitoes bring malaria and are a serious threat to their survival.
The Collection gives us a glimpse into the lives of these children and lets us see that we are really not so different after all. We like a lot of the same things, what scares them scares us and where they find happiness — we also find it.
