Where adventure and compassion meet. If you want to make a difference when you travel...
How you travel says a lot about you. For many of us, vacations are no longer recreational – we’re looking for unique ways to see the world and help with hands-on volunteering.
If you want to make a difference and don’t know where to begin, or wonder if your efforts would have any real impact, the Obakki Foundation is offering a vacation opportunity that allows you to make a difference while you’re there.
Obakki Foundation founder Treana Peake will personally lead a humanitarian delegation to Cameroon, Africa from November 28 to December 5th to work on our projects.
You will immerse yourself in the local culture, staying with Cameroonian friends and family in modest accommodations while experiencing life from a very unique perspective as we track the progress of our projects.
Highlights include visits to various orphanages and schools where you can spend time with the kids, working on our vocational farm and shopping at the local markets (always an adventure!) to prepare meals with the people Treana calls family. At the end of the trip, we will travel to the beautiful black sand beaches of Limbe, allowing everyone to relax and reflect before departing for home.
The cost for this trip is $4995, with 15-20% of the fee covering trip expenses and 100% of the remainder going directly to our programs in Cameroon (all travel and administrative costs for the Obakki Foundation are covered by the Obakki clothing line). You will spend 7 nights in Cameroon from November 28th to December 5th, in addition to 2 travel days (departure November 27th and return home December 6th). While this vacation is meant to engage and enhance your experience, the main objective of our trips is to maintain the integrity and meet the goals of the philanthropic mission. This allows us to make a real and lasting difference for the people we’re helping, and you can see firsthand how lives are being transformed because of you.
Cameroon is often described as “Africa in miniature” because it exhibits all major climates and vegetation of the continent: coast, desert, mountains, rainforest, and savannah. Compared with other African countries, Cameroon enjoys relatively high political and social stability; however large numbers of Cameroonians live in poverty as subsistence farmers. The town of Buea is our home base and despite having few foreign visitors, the people are incredibly warm and welcoming.
Philanthropic travel brings you closer to the issues and communities you care about in very meaningful ways. It’s where adventure and compassion meet, allowing you to have a truly authentic and life-changing experience that lasts long after you return home.
