The Remarkable Women of Bidi Bidi
We’re empowering thousands of women in Bidi Bidi, Uganda—the world’s largest resettlement area—who have been displaced from South Sudan by a brutal civil war. Having survived unspeakable trauma as well as the loss of their homes and families, these brave women are starting over from nothing.
When Obakki founder Treana Peake visited Bidi Bidi, she was met by a group of strong, hopeful women who’ve survived unimaginable atrocities of war. They sat together and created art that inspired the design of our Bidi Bidi scarf, which reflects their unbreakable spirit.
We already know what the women of Bidi Bidi are capable of when given the opportunity. We will continue partnering with these remarkable women because we’ve seen firsthand what is possible. We’re excited to support these motivated women who are determined to rise above their circumstances.
